Whit Weekend Eccles Archery Club Fita 70 & Welsh Whit Westerns
‘Check under your bonnet to make sure there are no cats in the engine bay before you start your engine’! That was warning on the sign on the clubhouse entrance that greeted the archers as they went to register for the Eccles Archery Club Fita 70 (25/05/2008). Ken Hoult, and Jack Grogan represented High Elm on that very windy day. The strong winds where conducive to the low final scores. Nevertheless Jack’s score gained him a win, and another County record (also, no cats were hurt as far as we know).
The following day (26/05.2008) the NWAS Welsh Whit Westerns held at the Corus Sports Grounds Deeside, was subjected to the strong gusting winds that troubled the previous days Fita 70 shoot at EAC. Tracey & Ian Scott put up a gallant effort with their Longbows, and as with the majority of Archers (even Compound), spent some time collecting their arrows from the green. After the shoot, organiser Michael Lewis very quickly collated all the scores while the raffle was being held. Awards were presented with Jack winning the Junior Recurve, and Ken winning the Gents recurve Trophy. Bringing another successful weekend to a close for High Elm.
